不定代名詞	用途	例句

One another the other others the others 用法

1. 單一個事物與另一個事物 (無限定範圍) one another (一個...另一個)

例如: I don't like this umbrella. Can you give me another?我不喜歡這支雨傘,可以給我另一支嗎?(另外一個同類別的傘)雨傘有很多支，不知道會選到哪一支，因此無限定範圍內的單數使用another

2.兩個事物 One the other (一個....另一個) 限定範圍

第一個使用one代替，剩下的那一個，因為只有那一個可以選(因此特定，需使用the)

如: I have two brothers. One is a doctor, and the other is a teacher. 我有兩個兄弟。一個是醫生，另一個是老師。

3. 三個事物 one another the other (一個...另一個...其他的...) 限定範圍

I have three apples. One is red, another is green and the other is rotten.我有三個蘋果，一個紅的、另一個綠的，最後一個是爛掉的。第一個使用one 代替剩下兩個不知道會選到誰(與觀念1相同，無限定哪一個)，因此第二個使用 another 。第三個因為也只剩那一個因此使用the other(觀念與2相同)

4. 單一個 一群體 one the others (一個....其他的...) 限定範圍

單一個使用one 剩下的那些使用the others (剩下的都使用the other，因複數+s)

There are five cars in the park. One is black,and the others are white.有五台車在公園裡。一個是黑色的，其他的都是白色的。

代替複數群體some others/ some of...the others/ some others the others

5.無限定範圍 some others

群體不只一事物，因此使用some代替剩下的使用others。不加the，因為有可能有第三群體或第三總狀況出現。

Some people like to eat rice, but others like to eat bread.有人喜歡吃飯，但其他人喜歡吃麵包。(有人可能喜歡吃麵noddles)

6.有限定範圍some of ______ the others

在限定範圍內的兩群體，第一組用some 第二組用the others.

The students in the classroom are happy. Some of them are singing,and the others are dancing.教室內的學生很開心，有些正在唱歌，其他的正在跳舞。(只有教室內的學生，發生兩種動作) 一群在唱歌，剩下的都在跳舞。

There are many paintings in the museum. Some of them are originals, the others are copies.博物館有許多畫作，有些是原創的，其他的是仿畫。
