這些動詞均含“辯論，爭論，說理”之意

1.argue ：指提出理由或證據為自己或自己一方的看法或立場辯護，著重說理、論證和企圖說服。

例如：Columbus argued that the world was round. （哥倫布論證地球是圓的。）

2.quarrel ：指兩人之間或兩個團體之間不友好的、吵吵嚷嚷地大聲爭論某事，尤指“吵嘴、吵架”。

 

例如：My neighbor quarreled bitterly last night, making a lot of noise.

(我鄰居昨晚大聲的吵架，製造了很多噪音。)

3.debate ：側重指意見等對立的雙方之間正式或公開的爭辯。(強調正反兩方的對立)

例如：The two candidates debated with each other in public about the new educational reform. 兩位候選人對新的教育體制改革公開辯論

4.dispute ：暗示氣氛狂熱且激奮，帶一定感情色彩，常隱含“各持已見”或“爭論不休”意味。尤指勞資雙方或相鄰兩國之間的

例如：They have been unable to settle/resolve the dispute over working conditions.

他們已經無法解決工作情況的爭論。

 

5.discuss ：最常用詞，指就某一或某些問題表明觀點、看法等，以便統一認識，解決問題。

例如：I would like to discuss this matter with you in person.

我想要親自與你討論這個議題。
