不定詞 to VR能表達「以便…，為了….」，in order to VR，so as to VR亦為相同的用法。with a view to Ving或with an eye to Ving，亦可以互相替換，但此處的to是介係詞，後面若是動詞需使用動名詞，for the purpose of Ving表示「為了…目的」。

此外，除了片語的形式外，亦可使用 so that + 子句，或者 in order that +子句的句型。「為了…不要…」的否定句，則在不定詞前加上not即可。 so that 是連接詞可等於 in order that 或 for the purpose that或 to the end that 等引出副詞子句修飾動詞，表目的。

 

Cindy studies hard to get a good job.

= Cindy studies hard in order to get a good job.

Cindy studies hard so as to get a good job.

Cindy studies hard with a view to getting a good job.

Cindy studies hard with an eye to getting a good job.

To get a good job, Cindy studies hard.

In order to get a good job, Cindy studies hard.

 

With a view to getting a good job, Cindy studies hard.

With an eye to getting a good job, Cindy studies hard.

(Cindy努力讀書為了可以獲得好工作。)

= Cindy studies hard so that she can get a good job.

=Cindy studies hard in order that she can get a good job.

To travel around the world, Jack does his best to earn more money.

= In order to travel around the world, Jack does his best to earn more money.

= With a view to traveling around the world, Jack does his best to earn more money.

 

= With an eye to traveling around the world, Jack does his best to earn more money.

= Jack does his best to earn more money so as to travel around the world.

(為了可以環遊世界，Jack盡自己最大努力賺錢)

Judy is saving money for the purpose of buying a house.

(Judy正在存錢為了買房。)

注意:To VR與 in order to 可至於句首，但so as to 不行。
