this that 怎麼用

定義：this（這）和that（那）都為單數的指示代名詞；若距離說話者較近的事物，就使用this；若距離說話者較遠的事物，就使用that。無論距離遠近，說話者都可以使用it（它）來代表所指的事物。this、that及it，都是搭配「單數be動詞 is」。

This is a pen. (這是一支筆)→說話者距離筆「近」。

That is a dog. (那是一隻狗)→說話者距離狗「遠」。

It is a flower. (它是一朵花)→不論遠近皆可指「單數名詞的事物」。

否定句：在be動詞後面，加入not。

This is not a pen. 這不是一支筆。

That is not a dog. 那不是一隻狗。

詢問單一物品是什麼以what至於句首，後搭配單數be動詞，並根據說話者的距離遠（that）近（this）或使用（it），來詢問該物品為何物。

What +be動詞+指示代名詞?       指示代名詞+be動詞+a/an名詞.

What is that?那是什麼?            That is a dog. 那是一隻狗。

What is this? 這是什麼?           This is a puppy. 這是一隻小狗。

 (1) 在What is it 的句子中，What is不可縮寫。(2) This is不可縮寫。

回答時可依照說話者的說話位置回答，因此問那是什麼不一定回答那是什麼，需依照說話者距離事物遠近來回答。
